The Economic and Social Council is one of the six main organs of the United Nations, and is the principal body for coordination, policy review, policy dialogue and recommendations on economic, social and environmental issues, as well as for implementation of the internationally agreed-upon development goals.

 

It is the central platform for reflection, debate, innovative thinking on sustainable development and for formulating policy recommendations addressed to member states and the United Nations system.
